Ask five people "what is
coaching" and you're likely to get 5 different
answers. Something to consider when weighing up
whether to finally take the step to get some coaching, or
when working out which coach will suit you, is to firstly get
very clear - and very honest with yourself on what outcome you
are committed to achieve. One of the things that I've noticed
over the years since I've been involved with personal
change-work and technologies is that it is very often the people
who are most vocal about wanting to embrace change, who may be
the least willing to go outside of their known and familiar
comfort zone.
While it's important to work with
a coach whose values you admire, it isn't of course required
that you share the same opinions before you start. If you find a
coach that you can be candid with, and will honor
your objectives - and keep you honoring them too, then you have
the basis for a positive working relationship. Which does not
mean pandering to self sabotaging behaviors!
Not sure where to start? Here are
some issues people have nominated as critical in deciding to
start coaching with me:
- A need to improve focus
- Desire to stretch to the next
level in development
- Action to create a dream
project to fruition
- Increase personal
understanding and repair toxic relationships
- Develop tools to progress
toward a worthy ideal
- Determination to move past
what no longer works
- Hunger to move toward goals
- Willingness to be sure enough
to be unsure
- Learn to create outcomes that
are well formed and ecological
