NEW HOME BUILDING

Thinking of building a new home? Perhaps you are living in a home that you've thought about renovating or rebuilding altogether.

For many people, single-storey is the way to go. With innovative designs in either traditional or more contemporary styles, the choice has to be yours.  And because all people are individuals, its important that you choose the elements and materials for your new home, to reflect just what you want to live in the years to come.

Whether you are building a home to start your family life, or are looking to build the last home you want to live in.  Your home. Your way.

Many people are finding that knockdown/rebuild is a very attractive option for them. They are in a neighbourhood that is close to all the things they need, and have neighbours and friends who provide a support and network that makes life all the better.

Perhaps you have a view that you would like to capitalize on or perhaps you would like to expand your living areas, and gain some more luxurious amenities like an en suite or alfresco area, while making the most of your orientation to capture the sun in winter and some shaded living areas in summer.

Whether you have a narrow block. a sloping block, an unusually shaped block, or just a block that you would like to make into your most special and most comfortable home, there is a style that will work for you. And if it is not in our standard catalogue, then we can work together to create it.

A stunning street presence, is possible, even on even very narrow sites. For rebuilding projects in urban areas, the design should be adaptable enough to adjust to a wider site, to enable you access to the rear for your boat, or caravan etc. Of course, all project home builders are not flexible in the way that they will work with clients, so advice can help with finding the right design to give your best outcome possible.

Shopping for the right company to build your home can be daunting. We can take a lot of the frustration out of the process and help you source a builder who can provide you with the home that meets what you want in your home.

SLOPING SITES

Imagine - a design that will work whether your block slopes down to the rear... or up to the back, either as a split-level or two-storey home, the right design can accommodate a whole range of situations, elegantly and with a grace that works with your land to give you the best outcome with the least amount of unsightly
(and costly) excavation and consequent retaining. Remember, not all builders are willing to build on bearers and joists, and many will only want to build what they can construct on a slab. This may be neither desirable or possible on a sloping site. If this is your situation, please feel free to contact me to discuss.

Wondering What To Consider When You're Building A New Home?

Your Land

Have you a block of land in mind?
Do you own it?
Do you know what restrictions affect the site? eg; mines subsidence, flood zone, covenants , bushfire restrictions, etc
Are there particular restraints that apply to the land due to narrow frontage, sloping elevation, easements, poor access, etc?
Do you know where North is relative to your site?
Are there views that you want to access?
Are there views that you want to avoid?
Will the driveway be easy to negotiate when entering and exiting your site?
Is a slab construction possible or desirable on your land, or do you need bearers and joists, and/or lightweight construction?
What has to happen in order for you to know that you are ready to build this home now?

Your House Style

Do you need a single-storied home so that you can get around easily now and into the future?
Do you need a two-storied home in order to achieve views, or to maintain a nice size garden?
Do you have adult children or parents who will be living in your home with you?
How many bathrooms will you require?
Do you need a formal living area and a casual living area or would you prefer one large space for entertaining?
Do you prefer modern contemporary styling or a more traditional look to fit the streetscape?
What entertaining do you do inside and outside the home? Do you require a transitional space like an alfresco area to bring the garden into the home?
How many bedrooms do you need - and who do they have to accommodate? A guest bedroom may suffice to be a smaller size than a bedroom for married children, etc.
Are there any handicapped or aged persons that will be living in the home and may need special consideration for door or hallway width and access?

Your Personal Style

Are there features that you want to incorporate into your home?
Are there special needs you have to house treasured furniture like extra large dining tables, pianos or billiard tables, hobby items etc?
Whatever you need, its best to consider it at the beginning of designing your home.
Have you established a budget for your home, and those items that you'll need to finish it off the way you want?

There are a lot of things to consider aren't there. Contact me now to arrange a preliminary consultation to discuss your needs and find out your options.

THE LITTLE BOY ASKS THE MEANING OF LIFE

An eight-year-old boy approached an old man in front of a wishing well, looked up into his eyes, and asked: "I understand you're a very wise man. I'd like to know the secret of life."

The old man looked down at the youngster and replied:
"I've thought a lot in my lifetime, and the secret can be summed up in four words.

The first is think. Think about the values you wish to live your life by.

The second is believe. Believe in yourself based on the thinking you've done about the values you're going to live your life by.

The third is dream. Dream about the things that can be, based on your belief in yourself and the values you're going to live by.

The last is dare. Dare to make your dreams become reality, based on your belief in yourself and your values. "

And with that, Walter E. Disney said to the little boy,

Think, Believe, Dream, and Dare.
